Josephine Bakhita Panel #14558

Stained glass window of Saint Josephine Bakhita. In this lovely stained glass window, the former slave is depicted with broken chains.

Josephine Margaret Bakhita, was born around 1869. After having suffered as a slave in Sudan for many years she was taken to Italy. She became a Canossian religious sister and lived in Italy for 45 years. She was canonized as Saint Josephine Bakhita in 2000, the first Black woman to be canonized a saint in modern times.   Saint Josephine is venerated as a modern African saint. She is the patron saint of modern Sudan and human trafficking survivors.

A religious window like this would make a good addition to a house of worship or a hospital chapel.
